COMPETITION RULES

Bricks Holiday 5 is the fifth edition in the world-famous Bricks Holiday series of unofficial competitions.

All levels were designed by Pepijn Boot.

Duration:

Bricks Holiday 5 will commence on June 1st, 2012 and finish on September 1st.

Intermediate results will be collected on July, 1st and August, 1st.

The deadline is August, 31st.

Note that for this competition, all deadlines will be at 24:00 German Time (UTC+2).

Please send your .brk file before each deadline to Pepijn Boot. Some intermediate statistics and rankings will be displayed on this site; after the competition, full results, rankings, solution history etc. will be added.

Two competitions in one:

Unlike the previous holiday competitions, Bricks Holiday 5 will have split-up competitions rankings: There is a leisure version containing levels 1-24 for the ones with little time or whatever other reason, and one less leisurely version containing levels 25-48 for the players with more time to dedicate themselves.

Thus there will be a scoring table for 1-24, a scoring table 25-48, and of course the combination of both.

Scoring system:

Bonus points are calculated according to the familiar Bricks Holiday method:

- Green score = 5 points

- White score = 3 points

- Yellow score = 2 points

- Blue score = 1 point

At the end of the competition, the player with most bonus points is declared the champion. In case of a tie, all players tied for first will be champions; similarly to Bricks Holiday 1 and 2 and unlike Bricks Holiday 3, no tie-break rules will be applied in such situations.

Additional rules:

In case of a tie on moves, the level record will go to:

                                   1. The tied player with least steps

                                   2. The tied player with least records

                                   3. The tied player with least competition points

                                   4. The tied player with least regular points

This competition is for individual players only - no teams will be allowed.

During the competition, players are not allowed to give any hint that might help other players estimate their performance.

Do not apply computer solvers to any level, partial level or modified level.

Designer's notes:

Do not get discouraged if some of the levels feel longer than you'd expect in a Bricks Holiday competition, because they are, especially in the second part (levels 25-48). Also, some levels in the second part may result to be very hard and require more dedication than previous Holiday competitions, thatīs why the competition is split. Needless to say that the overall length is higher than in previous editions of Bricks Holiday.

Thanks to Fabrice Duprat and Sampsa Lahtonen for design stimulation and everyone else who made this great game possible.
