Holiday 8 ("Barbara and the Amazing Unicolor Burro") is the
eighth
edition in the world-famous Bricks
Holiday series of unofficial competitions.
All levels were designed by Sampsa Lahtonen. Duration: Bricks Holiday 8 will commence on June 1, 2015 and finish on September 1 (not August 31). Intermediate results will be collected on July 1 and August 1. All deadlines will be at 23:59 German Time (UTC+2). Please send me your .brk file before each deadline. (In the past, a number of players have had problems contacting me by e-mail; mostly because many copies of my e-mail address are obfuscated due to spambots prowling the Internet, but sometimes for other reasons. If you are worried you might have this problem, test things well before the deadline so any issues can be identified in time. Sending me more than one update a month is a handy way to do this.) Some intermediate statistics and rankings will be displayed on this site; after the competition, full results, rankings, solution history etc. will be added. Scoring system: Bonus points are calculated according to Marco's method: - green score = 7 points - white score = 5 points - yellow score = 4 points - blue score = 3 points - orange score (up to +49.99%) = 2 points - orange score (up to +99.99%) = 1 point At the end of the competition, the player with most bonus points is declared the champion. In case of a tie, all players tied for first will be champions; no tie-break rules will be applied in such situations. Additional rules: In case of a tie on moves, the level record will go to: 1. The tied player with least steps 2. The tied player with least records 3. The tied player with least competition points 4. The tied player with least regular points This competition is for individual players only - no teams will be allowed. During the competition, players are not allowed to give any hints that might help other players estimate their performance (including but not limited to hints about their scores on a level or group of levels, posting or indicating their total score, commenting on any non-"no brainer" feature of any level, etc.) Do not apply computer solvers to any level, partial level or modified level. Designer's notes: I tried to design short, fun and relatively easy levels that would be accessible to as many players as possible. There are still some evil designs in there, of course :) A couple levels may be somewhat difficult to solve, and very few levels are easy to optimize. The overall WR will be > 46000 again. Thanks to everyone whose levels inspired my designs! Just as last time, I have shamelessly stolen ideas from quite a few players - up to and including myself... Good luck to all players, and have fun! :) |
